Melba Dean Hartsell Whitaker, 87, of Denton TX passed away on Thursday, October 24, 2013.

Melba was born on June 6, 1926 in Chico TX to Richard and Lillie Hartsell.

She was joined in marriage to Weldon Lee Whitaker of Alvord TX, who preceded her in death.

Survivors include her sister, Inell Hailey of Haltom City TX and brother, John E. Hartsell of Denison TX; daughter, Joyce Aldridge and husband, Gene of Smyrna TN; son, Ron Whitaker of Salina KS and Martha West; and daughter, Vickie Middleton and husband, Perry of Denton TX; grandchildren, Lance Aldridge and wife, Jennifer of Hendersonville TX; granddaughter, Brooke Aldridge and fiance, Levi Harris of Lima OH; granddaughter, Brittney Swanson and husband, Noah of OK; granddaughter Alaina Swanson and husband Nate of OK; grandsons, Jason and Wes Middleton of Denton TX; and grandson, Cole Weldon Whitaker of OK; great granddaughters, Abby and Ally Brogdon of Hendersonville TN.

A visitation will be held at De Berry Funeral Directors in Denton on Sunday, October 27, 2013 from 3 to 5 pm. A funeral service will be held at 2 pm on Monday, October 28, 2013 at De Berry's. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
