Melba Maxine Warnack Taylor passed from this earth on July 9, 2025. She was 99- years-old, born on New Year's Day, January 1, 1926, in Lewisville, Texas to Robert Edgar Warnack and J. Della Joplin Warnack, the fourth of nine children born to the family.
During her youth Melba attended the old Midway School east of Lewisville where she was very active in 4-H, winning several awards at the Denton County Fair. During World War II, she and her older sister Mildred lived in Fort Worth with their aunt, Melba working at Montgomery Ward on West 7th Street.
On November 30, 1946, Melba married J. C. (Dick) Taylor Jr. in Lewisville.
The young couple first made their home in Argyle, with Melba being active in the PTA and participating in plays at the old Argyle school auditorium. In 1957 they moved to Euless where Melba worked for the Hurst-Euless-Bedford ISD and later sold Avon. In post-retirement years, Melba and Dick enjoyed visiting garage sales, estate sales, and auctions, eventually opening a shop at Trader's Village for several years.
Melba was widowed in 2001 yet maintained her home and yard into her 90s. In 2020, she moved to Sanger with her son and daughter-in-law before moving to Good Samaritan/Denton Village where she resided until her passing.
She was the last surviving member of the nine Warnack children, preceded in death by her parents, her brothers: Leon, Bobby, and Cleolen Warnack, and her sisters: Mildred Fuller, Jean Anderson, Faye Clark, and two very young sisters, Irma Pearl Warnack and Donna Sue Warnack.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, DJ and Vicki Taylor of Sanger; her daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Allen Jenson of Breckenridge; six grandchildren; Denise, Dana, Dusty, Eric, Jason, and Courtney; 10 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren and a sixth on the way; and her sisters-in-law, Judy Warnack and Louise Taylor.
Funeral arrangements are under the guidance of DeBerry Funeral Directors in Denton, Texas. A graveside service will be held at Prairie Mound Cemetery, 1006 4th St, Argyle TX 76226, on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. Per Melba's request, casual dress.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Good Samaritan/Denton Village for the excellent care Melba received these past 5 years.
