Melody Jan Hufman, 70, of Mansfield, Texas passed away on April 5, 2025, in Arlington, Texas. She was born in Houston, Texas to Kenneth and Dorothy (Stacy) Hufman, on January 1, 1955.

Being the child of a minister, she got to move frequently. She graduated from high school in Wichita, Kansas. Her undergraduate degree was awarded from Wichita State University. She earned her masters degree and her PhD from the University of Denver. She served with distinction as professor of Communications at Amberton University in Dallas for over thirty years.

Courageous, joyful, compassionate, steadfast, selfless, clever, friend, people-lover. These words are just a small glimpse of what we saw in Melody. People who knew her loved her; those who didn't know her missed out. She was a light and a joy and she brought a smile to the faces of all those who knew her.

Melody was one of a kind and all who knew her would agree. She left an impression everywhere she went and left people better than when she first met them. She had a kingdom impact through her joy, laughter, love for others and her heart for God. She is dearly missed by her family here on earth, but we rejoice knowing she is dancing with our Savior, healed and restored.

She is survived by her brothers, David Hufman, and his wife, Adelaide "Sam," of Wichita Falls, Texas, and Mike McDaniel and his wife, Beverly of Athens, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, from 12:30 PM until 2:00 PM. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of DeBerry Funeral Directors, following the visitation. Interment will be held at Roselawn Memorial Park, in Denton, Texas
