Melvin W. Gothard, 62 of Denton passed away on October 30, 2016 in Denton, Texas. He was born in Dallas, Texas on January 6, 1954 to Pete and Joyce (Stephens) Gothard.

Melvin worked as a plumber and married Shirley Cawthon in Dallas, Texas on September 15, 1972 and had three children.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley Gothard of Denton, mother, Joyce Riner of Seagoville, daughter Lesley Gothard of Denton, sons; Cody Gothard of Denton, Calvin Gothard and wife, Annette of Flower Mound, Texas, sisters Wanda Rollins, Jackie Lindsey, brothers David Riner, Ricky Riner and grandchildren Kilian Gothard, Kinzi Gothard, Sophia Gothard, Alexa Gothard, and Averi Gothard.

He is preceded in death by his father, Pete Gothard, sister Brenda Pass, brothers, Glen Riner and Stevie Riner.

A graveside service will he held on Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. at Sanger Cemetery in Sanger, Texas.
