Obituary

The Rev. Merle Bolte was born on July 25, 1935 in Omaha, Nebraska and went to be with his Lord and Savior on May 4, 2018 at the age of 82.

Rev. Bolte received his Bachelor of Education degree from Omaha University (now the University of Nebraska at Omaha) in 1966 and received his Master of Divinity from the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago in 1969. He was ordained into the Lutheran Ministry on July 27, 1969. He served his entire ministry in the state of Texas, retiring from Christ the Servant Lutheran Church, Denton, Texas in 2002, and retired again from Oak Cliff Lutheran Church, Dallas, Texas in 2013.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Susan; three sons, Brent Bolte and his wife, Rachael, of Keller, Texas; Jason Miller, of Dallas, Texas; and Russell Miller, of Leander, Texas; three grandchildren, Alexis and Luke Bolte of Keller, Texas, and Addison Miller of Leander, Texas. He is also survived by two sisters, Beverly Murray of Las Vegas, Nevada and Jean Oltrogge of Cook, Nebraska; in-laws, Judy and Jim Chappell of Chanute, Kansas and Randall and Molly Hoffpauir of Denton, Texas and their families, many nieces and nephews and friends. He is leaving behind his good friends and golfing partners: Charles Hopkins, Bill Munday and Truman Massey.

A Celebration of Life memorial service will be on Saturday, May 12th at 11:00 A.M. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 703 North Elm St., Denton, Texas with the Rev. Russell Tieken officiating.

Memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church or the charity of choice.
