Michael Andrew Gumber, 60, of Sanger, passed away on Wednesday, August 13, 2014. He was born on November 6, 1953 in Rocky River, Ohio to Robert Gumber and Janette Reese Gumber. He married Shelley Novak on December 10, 1983 in North Royalton, Ohio.

He worked for over two and a half decades at American Airlines as a Crew Chief at DFW Airport. Mike was a loving and devoted family man. He was a selfless giving man who put family and friends above his own needs. Though he had a quiet demeanor, Mike shared his wisdom with those around him and instilled a deep respect by keeping his word. In his spare time he was a Volkswagen enthusiast, youth baseball coach, animal-­lover, and self-­taught hobby-man. Often he could be found tinkering on one of his cars or helping out a friend whenever a problem arose.

Mike is survived by his beloved wife, Shelley; sons, Brandon (wife Tracy), Jeremy, and Clayton Gumber; and sisters, Terry Sprosty, Barb Gumber, and Susan Siskrom; and cousin Sherry Dib. He is preceded in death by his parents.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, August 19, 2014 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of DeBerry Funeral Directors. In lieu of flowers, condolences may be left at the residence or during the service. A celebration of life will be held immediately following the service at the family home.
