Mickey Charles Vassey, 67, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on February 27, 2025, at Medical City of Denton. A celebration of life will be held on at 10:00am Friday, March 7, 2025, at DeBerry Funeral Directors in Denton.

Mickey was born on September 20, 1957, in Ocilla, Georgia, but he grew up in Wellington, Texas, raised by his maternal grandparents. He spent his childhood farming and driving combines. He married Leigh Ann Jeffrey in 1976 and later moved his family to Denton, Texas in 1984 to work at Denton County Electric Co-op, now CoServe. He had a passion for all things electrical and retired from CoServe after 42 years.

Through mutual friends Mickey was introduced to his best friend Caroline Poole Madden in1990, and they married 5 years later. During their 30 years of marriage, they enjoyed traveling the world to exotic places like Chile, Russia, Turkey, Egypt and China. They cruised down the Danube and the Nile. Mickey and Caroline traveled to Alaska to see the Aurora Borealis for his 50th birthday and most recently, traveled back to Alaska on a cruise. Their favorite place to travel was to Hawaii. He loved making special treats for his family like his homemade ice cream and German chocolate cake. His favorite holiday was Halloween when he spent it with his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Ruby and Cecil Lockhart, mother DeAnne Vassey, mother-in-law Bette Schneider, his brothers David Vassey and Steven Vassey, and his son Stacey Charles Vassey.

Mickey is survived by his wife, Caroline Vassey, daughters, Tyra Krause and husband Matt, April Bogs and husband William, Micki Hayden and husband Chris, his beloved grandchildren, Aidan Bogs and wife Julianne, Mason and Simon Krause, Avery, Chase and Payton Hayden, his sister Terrie Taylor, father-in-law Larry Schneider, and many extended family and friends.
