Obituary

Miguel Ramos Sanchez, 79 of Argyle, passed away at home surrounded by his family on Tuesday night, October 3, 2023.  He was born in Midland, TX to Ygnacio Baeza and Andrea Ramos Sanchez. Miguel was the oldest of seven brothers and sisters – Juanita, Victoria, Yolanda, Oscar, Felix, and Corina. He served in the US Navy from 1964-1967 as a radio technician on the P3 Orion and then hired on with IBM in 1968 as Field Engineer in Midland where he met and fell in love at first sight with the love of his life.

Sylvia Villa became his lovely bride in Midland on December 13,1969. They had two children named Oscar and Rebecca. In 1986, the family ventured out of West Texas to beautiful Flower Mound, TX. In 2010, they moved to Argyle, TX half a block from Oscar. They are members of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.

In 2002, he retired from IBM after 34 years where he served with distinction known for his attention to detail, work ethic, and character in a variety of technical projects and positions with his final years in Software technical testing. He made good friends there like Hector, Frank, Herb, Ted, and many others.

Miguel went by many names - Mike, Mr. Mike, Gramps, Grandpaclaus, Popo, Dad etc. He was known by many as a disciplined man of few words but meaningful words. To those closest to him, he shared a sense of humor uniquely his. A voracious reader since his youth, Mike's interests ranged from Jazz and Classical music, philosophy, firearms, home and automotive repair, computers and many other topics about which he seemed to be an endless well of knowledge and experience. He loved learning, sharing what he had with others, and finding connections with people around him. He was in constant motion working on fences, yards, cars, home repair, or any project that his lovely wife could dream up. He was well known for his patient and detailed pace in everything. Morally, he demonstrated a personal commitment and obligation to the truth; sometimes, it could create difficulty. However, his most endearing quality was his humble commitment to be of service to those around him. After his retirement from IBM, he made his way to a position as a bus driver for school children in AISD. This choice surprised everyone; his thoughtful playful engagement with the kids on his bus brought the appreciation and friendship of kids, parents, and teachers alike. Eventually, his bus driving led him to become a standard fixture of the Denton ACTS community transporting adult retreatants with the same attention and mirth he gave the school children. Again, his passengers appreciated what this fatherly white-haired gentleman brought to the experience. After his stint as a driver, he was known in the neighborhood for his cheerful patrols around the neighborhood walking a little brown and white chihuahua named Rocky. Throughout his life he served Heaven with a quiet humble faith that left an indelible mark on this world and has been a sign and encouragement to have Faith.
