Born on August 30, 1935, in Wichita Falls, Texas, to Mike Sr. and Reyes (Rios) Amador, Mike graduated from Wichita Falls High School in 1955. On May 25, 1958, he married the love of his life, Yolanda Mendez, and together they built a life filled with love, dedication, and cherished memories.

Mike began his military service in June 1954 with the Texas Army National Guard and was honorably discharged in May 1969. He proudly served in active duty with the 49th Armored Division during the Berlin Crisis of 1961. In 1963, he joined the 4th Missile Battalion at the Nike Missile Base in Denton, TX, as part of the 132D Artillery Division, where he served until the base closed in 1968.

As a young man, Mike worked alongside his father at Acme Brick Co., a job he deeply valued. His dedication to service continued when he joined the University of North Texas Police Department in December 1969. Through hard work and commitment, he earned his Master Police Officer License and rose to the rank of Captain. He retired after 42 years of unwavering dedication to the department and his community.

Mike loved to play golf, enjoyed dancing with his wife on Friday nights at the Denton Senior Center, and working in his home garden. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys and UNT College Football fan, cherished spending time with his family, and loved sharing ice cream and sweet treats with his grandchildren.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents; his infant daughter, Lori Amador; grandson, Bobby Dalton; daughter-in-law, Lola Amador; and sisters, Carmen Amador Ayala, Isabel Morales, Yolanda Amador, and Antonia Amador.

He leaves behind a loving family to cherish his memory: his wife of 66 years, Yolanda Amador; his children, Jeannette Dalton of Corinth, TX, Michael Amador of Denton, TX, and Jeff Amador and wife Lori of Corinth, TX; his grandchildren, Jesse, Mia, Logan, Martin, Zach, Stephen, and Samantha; and his great-grandchildren, Jayden and Jocelyn. He is also survived by his siblings: Dolores Ortiz, Robert Amador, Richard Amador, Andrew Amador, Victoria Innis, Danny Amador, Rita Howard, Aurora Glover, Gilbert Amador, Ruby Rodriguez, Patricia Pompey, and Ophelia Miller, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Mike Amador's legacy of dedication, service, and love for his family will be remembered by all who knew him. He will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on in the hearts of those he touched.
