Mildred May Cockrell, 96, of Sanger passed away Saturday, August 18, 2018 in Denton. She was born in Mexia, Texas to Oscar and Elsie (Hampton) Pearson on January 12, 1922.
Accomplished seamstress not only for individuals but also for the TWU Modern Dance Team and the Denton High Cheer Squad. Later in life she joined her son Jerry in the food service industry at Peterbilt Motors where she touched so many lives with her down-home cooking.
She was a strong, determined woman who raised her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren to be the same.
Mildred is survived by her daughters; Teresa Young of Sanger, Mildred Ann Fain of Sanger, sons, Jerry Cockrell of Sanger, Dannie Cockrell of Sanger, Michael Cockrell of Denton and Billy Cockrell of Ft. Worth, sister, Ruby Kerner of Denton and grandchildren, Kevin, Shannon, Stacy, Candy, Baylor, Chelsea, Terie, Kristi, Kendall, Jennifer, Kasey, Desiree and Judd as well as 23 great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Dan Cockrell, sons, Donald Cockrell and George Cockrell, sister, Dorothy Archer, brothers; Newt Pearson, Vernon Pearson, Monroe Pearson, Wayne Pearson and Alonzo Pearson and her mother and father.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 21, 2018 at from 1-2 P.M. in the Bill DeBerry Funeral Chapel, service will begin at 2:00 P.M. with Kendall Cockrell officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Denton.
