Obituary

Mildred Frances Lancaster Martin passed away on January 26, 2026 at the age of 91. Born in Denton, Texas in 1934, she grew up on Bernard Street. She was a lifelong resident of Denton and member of First Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She attended the Denton Normal School and graduated from Denton High School in 1952. She was married to R.D. Martin from 1954 to 1987. Mildred is survived by their three children, Vickie Masten, Dennis Martin (Sherrie) and Russell Martin (Belkys); five grandchildren Michael (Kim), Eric (Annie), Blake (Tyler), Ryan (Alicia) and Bailey; and 12 great-grandchildren most of whom live in the DFW metroplex.

She worked for the Denton County Chapter of the American Red Cross from 1988 until 1999. She was a Docent at the Denton County Courthouse Museum and a Deacon at First Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Alvin Lancaster Jr. and Verna Jackson Lancaster, six siblings, Alvin, Mary, Charles, Suzanne, Molly and countless Denton school friends that she gathered with frequently over the years. The values instilled in her by her parents and siblings guided her in all of her endeavors. She was a dear daughter, mother, grandmother and friend.

A graveside service will be held in her honor at Roselawn Memorial Park in Denton, Texas on Friday, January 30, 2026 at 2:00 PM. Lunch and a Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, February 8, 2026, at 12:30 PM, at First Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 1424 Stuart Road, Denton, Texas. Family and friends are invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
