Mitzi Murphy, 61, of Sanger passed away Saturday, March 3, 2018 in Denton, TX surrounded by her loving family.  She was born on March 14, 1956 in Chattanooga, TN. to Beamon and Barbara Murphy. Mitzi married her high school sweetheart, James Murphy on April 1, 1982 in Chattanooga, TN.   Their love for each other was not an April Fool's Day joke as they shared thirty six years together.

Her loving legacy and pride and joy were her six grandsons that referred to her as Mimi. Her early years were spent raising her three daughters.  She enjoyed taking trips to the beach, collecting sea shells, Magnolia trees, bright pink Crepe Myrtles and celebrating all holidays. Valentine's Day and Halloween were her favorite because it was an excuse to indulge in chocolate and spoil her grandkids.

In fall 2016 Mitzi was told by doctors that her medical condition would only allow her body to live two weeks.  She was encouraged by the love and support of family and friends to prove them wrong.  Her determination to trust the Lord and "Just Believe" gave everyone an extra year and a half to celebrate her miraculous recovery.

Mitzi is survived by her husband, James Murphy, daughters, Nicole VanKirk and husband Mark, Shellie Melton and husband Adam, Faith Collins and husband William, six grandchildren, Ganon VanKirk, Addison Melton, Austin Melton, Paxton VanKirk, Waylon Collins and Aiden Melton.

She is preceded in death by her parents.
