Montresa Lonella Spivey, 90, of Krum went home to be with the Lord on February 6, 2016 in Denton, Texas. Nell was born in Titus County, Texas on June 10, 1925 to John Quincy and Lena (Sullivan) Roper.
She graduated as valedictorian from Winfield High School in 1942. She married Curtis L. Spivey on September 5, 1942. During Curtis's service in the Air Force, Nell lived in Texas, New Mexico, California, and New Hampshire.
She worked various jobs at Western Auto, Sears, and retired from EMC Plastics.
Nell enjoyed teaching the adult ladies' Sunday School class at First Baptist Krum for many years. She was an active member at Bible Study Fellowship (BSF) in Denton and was a member of New Life First Baptist in Krum. In her spare time, Nell enjoyed gardening and watching the birds that visited her garden.
She is survived by her daughter, Denise Spivey of Krum, niece Phyllis Welborn of Mount Pleasant, Texas and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her mother, father, husband, daughter, Marlena Williams, and sister Janetha Owens.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, February 9, 2016 from 1:00-2:00 p.m. at New Life First Baptist Church in Krum. Services will follow at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Jackson Cemetery in Krum, Texas. Services will be conducted by Pastor Carl Lane and Pastor Jay Smith.
Nell's family would like to say a special thank you to the nurses and staff at Presbyterian Hospital in Denton. You were especially kind, patient, and helpful providing excellent care during Nell's stay.
