IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Morelle M.
Miller
June 25, 1932 – November 14, 2017
Morelle M. Miller, 85, of Denton, passed away peacefully, from natural causes, in her home, surrounded by her family, on Monday, November 14 th , 2017.
Morelle was born Moriah Estelle McCoy in Crosbyton, Texas, on June 25, 1932, to Arthur and Luteenie McCoy. Her nickname of "Morelle" caught hold when she was young, and when she realized her birth certificate said "Baby Girl McCoy" she officially changed her name to Morelle.
Morelle was the fifth of six children. She had an older sister, whom she idolized, and four precious brothers. As a child during the depression era, Morelle learned to value family and hard work more than anything else. She often spoke lovingly of her mother, Luteenie, a strong woman in her own right who always made sure her children had what they needed.
Morelle graduated from Merkel High School in 1950. She loved playing volleyball and basketball. She was in the glee club which allowed her to travel to out-of-town games to watch her brothers play football. She loved to sew and craft which eventually led her to a degree in Home Economics from the University of Texas at Austin in 1954. After graduation, Morelle taught home economics and coached women's volleyball and basketball.
While at UT, she met her husband, Jack Miller. They married July 2, 1955 in Merkel. They were married until Jack's passing on May 2, 2016. Together they had four children. The family moved several times before finally settling in Denton, Texas in 1970. With no open positions in home economics instruction, Morelle followed in her older sister's footsteps and got her real estate license. Morelle worked for several years under different brokers before opening her own real estate business. She held leadership positions with Denton Board of Realtors including Chaplain and President. She was a woman ahead of her time. She was proud to practice real estate for over forty years.
In addition to her career, she was accomplished in sewing, crocheting, painting, drawing, and making ceramics.
Morelle is survived by her four children: daughter, Sharla Miller of Hurst; son, Jeff Miller and his sons, Jeffery, Matthew, and Ryan as well as their mother Kathy Miller; daughter, Marla Carrico, her husband Jay and their daughter Jayme; and daughter, Mona White, her husband Josh, and their two sons Wilson and Jackson. Morelle is also survived by several cousins, nieces, and nephews whom she loved dearly.
Morelle is preceded in death by her husband Jack Miller, and her siblings Medford, Mary, Melvin, Miniford, and Merkel.
We would like to thank her team of doctors for all that they did to help Mom. We are so grateful to Ann's Haven Hospice for their indispensable help. We also want to thank her precious care-giver, Donna DeMecco for the precious love and care she gave both of our parents before their passing.
