On January 22, 2017, surrounded by her loving family, Myrtle Delane Finley went home to be with the Lord. She was born on October 13, 1922, in Clarksville, Texas to Dean David and Katie Mae Brittian. She grew up in the Ponder, Texas area with her brothers and sisters, Pat, Oleta, Melvyn, Evelyn, Leroy, D.D. and Walker Lane.
She married Thomas Monroe Finley on January 1, 1945 in Denton Texas. They had one son and were happily married for 40 years until his death in 1985.
She spent her adult life living in Denton, Texas working at Denton County National Bank for 36 years. As well she served on the Board of the American Red Cross and as an election judge for many of those years. After retirement from banking she kept active with part time jobs until her early 80's.
In her later life she devoted the majority of time with her only granddaughter. Delane will be remembered for her perseverance and determination, which she demonstrated so steadfastly to her last day, and giving back to people in ways she could.
Delane is preceded in death by her parents Dean and Katie Brittian, husband Tom, five brothers and two sisters.
She is survived by her son Hal Thomas Finley and wife Maria of Carrollton, Texas; grandchild Hannah Finley and numerous nieces and nephews.
Family visitation will be held on Thursday, January 26, 2017 from 6:00-8:00PM at DeBerry Funeral Directors located at 2025 W. University Dr, Denton, Texas 76201. Services will be held Friday, January 27, 2017 at 1:00 P.M. in the chapel of DeBerry Funeral Directors. Burial will immediately follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to her skilled nursing facility and hospice caregivers for their loving care over the last four years and the many friends and family for their love, support and especially prayers during this difficult time.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations may be made to the American Heart Association , or the Senior Source of Greater Dallas ( https://www.theseniorsource.org/ ).
