Obituary

Nadine Halstead, 93, passed away peacefully on September 12, 2025.  She was born outside of Emporia, Kansas on June 30, 1932, to Elizabeth Owen Deitrich and Vernon Deitrich.  Nadine graduated from Clay Center, Kansas high school in 1950 and graduated from Emporia State College with a BS in business education in 1954.  She taught in Glasgow, Kansas for two years.  She had always loved Colorado, and taught in the Denver public schools from 1956-1959.

She met her wonderful, loving husband Frank, of 58 years, while working on her master's degree at University of Colorado summer school.  They married in Emporia, Kansas on June 15, 1958.  They made their home in Lakewood, Colorado until they moved to Denton, Texas in 1966 for Frank to teach in the college of education at the University of North Texas.  Nadine graduated from University of North Texas with a master's degree in business education.  She also taught there as a graduate assistant and received the honors of Who's Who in American Universities and Colleges.  Later, Nadine began her very successful career in real estate for many years, which she thoroughly enjoyed.

Nadine was an active member of the Searchers Sunday School class at First United Methodist Church, Ann's Haven Hospice Auxiliary, PEO, Denton Benefit League and her bridge clubs.  Nadine loved to travel and had lived all over the United States growing up.  She and Frank traveled extensively throughout the world during their retirement and enjoyed their Trippers travel group from church.

Nadine is survived by her two loving daughters, Deanna and her husband, Lance Carpenter of Frisco, Texas; Pam Halstead of Carrollton, Texas: one precious granddaughter, Faith and her husband, Weston Howard, in Aubrey, Texas: and the highlights of joy in her final days, her great grandchildren, Paisley and Asher Howard; one sister, Darleen Unger, of Virginia Beach, Virginia.
She was preceded in death by her devoted husband Frank Halstead 1930 – 2017.
