Nathan James passed away in Denton, Texas on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at the age of 92. He was born in Plainview, Texas to Virgil C. and Viola May James on May 30, 1933.
Nathan lived most of his adult life in Irving, Texas. There he worked in construction, building homes, and later worked for the City of Irving in the sanitation department until he retired.
He is preceded in death by his wife Dorothy Pearl James, parents Virgil C. and Viola May James, brothers Paul, J.W., Joseph, David, Luke, Rueben, sisters Naomi, Clota, and daughter Myrna Lynn King.
His surviving family members include his children: Dianna Marie and Richard Payne, Janie Sue and Gary Garrison, and Paul Nathan James and his grandchildren: Richard Bryan and Dawne Marie Payne, James Alexander and Chandie Marie Payne, Gary Lynn and Mitzi Garrison Jr, Samuel Wayne and Shelby Garrison, Paul Nathan and Karen James II, Katie Marie James, George and Annie Rawls, and Emily Rawls.
He was also incredibly proud of his 13 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to Denton Village on Hinkle and Three Oaks Hospice Care for providing them with caring and compassionate service.
Visitation for Nathan will be in the chapel of DeBerry Funeral Directors on October 22, 2025, from 11:30 - 12:30; a graveside service will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Denton, Texas at 1:00pm.
