Nell Andrews's Obituary

Nell Rose Wilkinson Andrews, 88, died Tuesday, July 3 in Denton, Texas, where she resided for 20 years.  She was a retired teacher, having coached and taught in Ascension Parish high schools for more than 30 years.

A native of Walker, Louisiana, she was raised in Denham Springs. She graduated from Denham Springs High School and Louisiana State University. She began her education career as a girls' basketball and softball coach at Gonzales High School and was on the founding faculty of East Ascension High School in 1966.

She was a long-time member of the Gonzales United Methodist Church, active in the music program and the United Methodist Women. She was also a member of the Baton Rouge Womens' Music Club Chorus.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Glenn L. Andrews of Gonzales, Louisiana; her parents, Rex V. and Carrie Belle Milton Wilkinson of Walker; her sister Barbara Del Hill of Denham Springs; and her daughter-in-law Eileen M. Andrews of Metairie, Louisiana.

She is survived by her children, Valerie J. Andrews of Metairie; Scott (Patricia) Andrews of Denton; Victor Andrews of Metairie; and Glenn (Casandra) Andrews of Irvington, Alabama. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Bonnie Andrews (Galen) Cook of Denton; Navy Lt. Kathleen Andrews of Trecastagni, Italy; Soren Andrews of Denton; Caroline Andrews of Metairie; and Joseph and Emily Rose Andrews of Irvington. Her surviving sisters are Jimmie Lee (James) DeLaune and the Rev. Alice W. Story of Denham Springs; and Connie (Larry) Glover of Walker. She is also survived by her brother-in-law Bobby Hill of Denham Springs and preceded in death by her brother-in-law Jack V. Story.
