Nelta Walton Bahnsen passed away peacefully at home in Denton, Texas, on Monday, January 9, 2023.  She was born in Haskell County, Texas, to Glen and Faye Walton on April 30, 1939.  Nelta graduated from North Texas State College and taught several years at Denton High School.  After retirement, she enjoyed breeding and raising exotic birds as well as caring for a wide variety of indoor and outdoor plants.

Nelta is preceded in death by her parents and brother, Larry Walton.  She is survived by her daughter, Toni Bahnsen of Bloomingburg, NY, son, Kenny Bahnsen of Denton, TX, and grandchildren, Laura Candea, Heather Candea and Brayden Bahnsen.  She is also survived by her sisters, Glenda Nelson (James) of Hammond, LA, and Terry Walton of Grapevine, TX, as well as seven nieces and nephews.
