Nick Atkins, 58, of Corinth, Texas, passed away Wednesday night, January 13, 2021 at the Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital of Denton following a tough battle with pneumonia and heart complications. He was born July 16, 1962 in Dallas to Willie Joe and Katherene Corene Hughes Atkins. He attended Lake Dallas High School and married the love of his life, Jackie McLarty (Atkins), on November 26, 2011, and had 9 wonderful years of marriage.

Nick was a Warehouse Supervisor for Hilite Industries in Carrollton TX, where he worked for 18 years. Nick and Jackie had a love for bidding on auctions and storage units which became their most enjoyable time together. Nick was an avid handyman and loved working on cars. He could never pass up a challenging project and constantly, and thoroughly enjoyed, helping all his kids with every project they threw at him. He was also the biggest Dallas Cowboys fan and you could always find him on the couch wearing cowboy colors cheering on his favorite team on gameday. Nick was selfless and was always there for anyone who needed him. His time was cut short with his first grandson, Waylon, he was the best Granddaddy to that little man. He will be dearly missed by many.

Nick is survived by his wife, Jackie Atkins, his four loving children, Ashton, Avery, Lindsay, and Erica & Johnny, grandson, Waylon, mother, Katherene "Corene" Atkins, in-laws, Carroll & Diane McLarty and loving extended family, Lorie and Rod Sampley along with numerous cousins, aunts, uncles and dear friends, including beloved Schnorkie's, Jax and Able.

He was preceded in death by his father, Willie Joe Atkins.

The family will be holding a visitation at DeBerry Funeral Directors in Denton TX on Saturday, January 16th from 1:00-3:00 p.m. Graveside services will be held at the Simmons Cemetery near Cash, TX (Hunt County), off FM 1564, on Sunday, January 17th at 1:00pm.
