Ola Elizabeth "Lady Perry" McGinnis Camp, 95, of Denton, Texas, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, November 9, 2017. Liz was born on August 21, 1922 in Terrell, Texas to Perry T. and Mae Ola (Lechner) McGinnis. She grew up in Dallas, graduated from North Dallas High School, and received a Bachelor of Science in Home Economics from the University of Texas at Austin. She was a member of Delta Gamma Fraternity. She married Frank A. Camp, Jr., on March 11, 1944. After Frank was released from service in the Navy Dental Corps, they moved to Denton in 1947 where he established his dental practice. They began raising their family of three children.
As a Delta Gamma alumna, Liz was appointed in the late 50's to a two-year term as Province Officer, supervising all the Delta Gamma collegiate chapters in the state of Texas. She was a charter member of the Junior Shakespeare Club and later a member of the Shakespeare Club. She also performed the bookkeeping duties for Frank's dental office. She enjoyed reading, playing bridge, traveling, and various kinds of handwork. She had been a member of St. Andrew Presbyterian Church since 1948.
Preceded in death by her husband, Liz is survived by her sons Frank A. Camp III and wife Cynthia of Plano, Ronald P. Camp and wife Lucreatia of Richardson, and by her daughter Libby Camp McCormack of Denton, as well as seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Monday, November 13 at DeBerry Funeral Directors in Denton, Texas at 2025 W. University Drive Denton, Texas 76201 from 6-8 pm . Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 14 at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church, 300 W. Oak St. in Denton at 2 pm, with interment following at Roselawn Memorial Park, 3801 Roselawn Dr. in Denton. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Andrew Presbyterian Church.
