Obituary

Orlean Durmont "OD" Johnson, 93, of Denton, Texas, passed away Monday, March 17, 2025. He was born June 26, 1931, in Malung, Minnesota, to Orvile and Dorothy Dahlquist Johnson. He graduated from Roseau High School in Roseau, Minnesota, in 1949. Later that year, he enlisted in the United States Air Force, serving honorably for 22 years. His military career took him across the globe, including service in the European occupation in Germany, the Korean War, a remote radar station in Alaska, and frontline intelligence work during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged in 1971 at Bergstrom Air Force Base in Austin, Texas.

On September 4, 1954, he married Bethie "Beth" Faris in San Antonio, Texas. They were married for 59 years and enjoyed traveling extensively, visiting every state except Hawaii and much of Canada.

In 1955, OD became a Master Mason of Harlandale Lodge 1213 A.F. & A.M. After retiring from the Air Force, he worked as a purchasing agent for wholesale hardware companies in San Antonio for 37 years. In 2008, he and Beth moved to Denton, Texas, to be closer to their grandchildren.

Following Beth's passing in 2013, OD found love again. At his 65th high school reunion, he reconnected with an old friend, Clarice Webster. At 83 years of age, they fell in love and shared many years of travel, companionship, and happiness until his passing.

He is survived by Clarice Webster of Denton; son, Jon Johnson and wife Lorelei Windeler of Flower Mound, Texas; three grandchildren, Sydney, Bentley, Bentley's wife Andrea Javier, and Layton Johnson; sister, Kathy Johnson Schill of Pueblo West, Colorado; and brother, LeRoy Johnson of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and two sisters.

The memorial service will be held on Friday, March 21, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Good Samaritan, Denton, Texas. Burial will be at a later date at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, San Antonio, Texas.
