Ortensia "Tencha" Nunez of Denton was born on August 13, 1949 in Slaton Tx to Alfonso Marroquin Sr. and Virginia (Toledo) Marroquin and passed away on July 1, 2023 in Denton.

She attended Slaton School until she went to work in the fields to help provide for her younger siblings at home. She met and married Gonzalo C. Nunez on September 13, 1967 in Ulysses KS. They made their home in Denton and remained by each other's side for the next 56 years, raising 2 sons and proudly loving 3 grandkids.

She was a loving and devoted house wife who had a smile for everyone she met. She loved flowers such as sunflowers or as she calls it "the Kansas Flower," morning glories, and forget me nots. She loved the color purple, her family, and overall life. She also enjoyed going to the flea market and casino with her husband.

She enjoyed and loved her sons and family, such as making memories watching Scooby Doo, I love Lucy, making tortillas, long walks with Victoria. The yearly easter egg hunt where she ran around "would accidently" step on the eggs she had hidden herself, watching tv, playing in the backyard with Emilio. Eating fruit loops, watching Sanford and son, All in the Family, and SpongeBob while Bella braided and brushed her hair, painting her fingernails with her favorite color of nail polish red. Her laughter, unconditional love for people and joy will be missed very much.

Tencha was preceded in death by her parents and 2 brothers.

She is survived by her husband Gonzalo Nunez, son and daughter in law Ruben and Danielle Nunez, son David Nunez and Lupe Roldan, Grandchildren Victoria and Robbie Neal, Emilio Nunez, and Isabella Nunez, siblings Mary Marroquin, Lydia Ramos, Suzie Arredondo, Lucy Medrano, Joe Marroquin, Fred Marroquin, Andy Marroquin, Tony Marroquin, Alfonso Marroquin Jr., Rudy Marroquin, Marshall Marroquin. And many nieces and nephews and other family members.

Visitation will be on Friday July 7th, 2023 from 5pm to 7pm, at Deberry Funeral Directors in Denton TX. Funeral services will be held Saturday 7/8 at 10am at the Chapel of Deberry Funeral Directors. Interment will follow at Roselawn Graveside Memorial Park in Denton TX.
