Orville "Gene" Hawkins

Gene was born in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma to Raymond "Doc" and Ova Irene Hawkins on November 14, 1943. He went home to be with the Lord on December 11, 2012 at the Atrium facility in Corinth.


Gene was a 1962 graduate of Ada High School. He married the love of his life, Patsy Sue Wilker, on December 28, 1963. They were married 42 years before she preceded him in death in 2005. They had two children, Rob and his wife Janene and Robin and her husband Victor.


In 1992, after his children were raised, he and Patsy settled in central Texas and he worked in the home improvements industry. He retired from The Home Depot At Home Services in 2008 so he could go fishing.


He is preceded in death by his parents, sisters Pat and Joyce, and wife Patsy. He is survived by his daughter Robin and her husband Victor and grandchildren Chantel, Riana, Diamond, Christian, Justus, Genesis and Blessing of Krum; son Rob and his wife Janene and grandchildren Lauren and Nathan of Rowlett; sister Jaunita Tilley and her husband Kenneth; brother Jim Hawkins and wife Carol Jean; and many other loving family members and friends.


Visitation will be held prior to service on Saturday, December 15, 2012 at 2:00 pm at DeBerry Funeral Directors with the service officiated by Pastor Danny Helms starting at 2:00 pm in the Chapel. Burial will follow at Jackson Cemetery in Krum.
