Ovella Melton

Visitation for Ovella Marie Newland Groening Melton, 104, of Denton will be Saturday, April 13, 2013 from 2-3 pm with a service to begin at 3:00 pm in the Chapel of DeBerry Funeral Directors. Burial will follow at I.O.O.F Cemetery with the Rev. Buddy Owens officiating.

Mrs. Melton passed away on Thursday, April 11, 2013 at the Good Samaritan Society. Mrs. Melton, a long time Denton Realtor, was a member of the Gateway United Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Louis Groening and Thomas (Buck) Melton. She was also preceded in death by a son, Larry Groening and daughters Jennie Brown and Mary Lynn Stanaland.

She is survived by a daughter, Barbara Pitner of Galveston; sons Emory Groening of Canyon Lake, Texas and Jerry Groening of Cumby, Texas; as well as 9 grandchildren and many great grandchildren.

Honorary pallbearers will include, John Kent Stanaland, Jerry Don Stanaland, Cody Ryon Groening, Johnny Jeter, Jaried Jeter, and Jay Jeter.
