Pat Marie Ginnings, 90, of Denton, passed away on Sunday, January 27, 2013. She was born on November 18, 1922 in Collinsville, Texas to Leonidas Owen and Winnie Saunders Owen. She married V. Carlisle Ginnings in Dallas on June 11, 1942. He preceded her in death in 2003. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Denton.
Affectionately known as Nana and Auntie Pat, she was a perfectionist to the core excelling at most anything she did. Whether it was baking her signature chocolate pies and fudge icing, detailed sewing, crafts or the majestic landscapes, still life and portrait oil paintings, she was a skillful artist even teaching private art lessons for over 40 years in her home studio.
The family will receive friends in Flynn Hall Lounge on Wednesday, January 30, 2013 from 1-2 pm prior to the service. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 pm in Cole Chapel at the First United Methodist Church with Dr. Jim Porter officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
Pat is survived by her daughters, Susan Ginnings McKenzie and Anne Marie Prince and husband Steve; sister, Sally Minnis; brother, Ken Owen; 3 grandchildren, Steven Prince and wife Tameka, Brandi Prince, and Brittany Hammel and husband Greg; 3 great grandchildren, Lennox P., Isaac P., and Parker Faith Hammel; and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband; her parents; brothers, Fred Owen and Bob Owen; and sister, Nora Jarnagin Nichols.
