Obituary

Patricia Ann Burke Hiler, of Denton, TX, passed away Sunday, July 4 th at her home.

Patricia Ann Burke was born on November 21 st , 1938 to Arthur and Matilda Wolf Burke in Cincinnati, OH.  Pat met her future husband, Edward Allan Hiler, in the 8 th grade.  They married on January 30 th , 1960.  Pat earned a Bachelor's Degree from Miami University (Oxford, OH) and began her career as an educator in Columbus, OH at Windsor Elementary School while Ed worked towards his PhD at Ohio State University.

After Ed's graduation, they moved to Bryan, Texas in 1966 where he began his career at Texas A&M University.  Pat completed her Master's Degree (TAMU, Education) and became deeply involved in serving the Bryan/College Station community as they started a family.  Pat and Ed were blessed with three children; Karen Dawn (born 1967, deceased), Richard Burke (born 1969) and Scott Allan (born 1976).

Pat was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Bryan, serving in several leadership capacities.  She also served as the Education Chair for the Brazos County Historical Commission, President of the Brazos Heritage Society, President of the Texas A&M University Women's Club, President of the Texas A&M University Extension Service Club, board member of the Girls Club of Brazos County, board member of the Children's Museum of Brazos Valley as well as other service and volunteer organizations.

After 41 years of serving the Texas A&M and Bryan/College Station communities, Pat and Ed relocated to North Texas to enjoy their retirement and live closer to family.  They served as members and leaders at First United Methodist Church of Bridgeport, First Presbyterian Church of Bridgeport and Saint Andrew Presbyterian Church of Denton.

Pat is survived by her husband Ed; her son, Rick Hiler and wife Sunnae of Benbrook, TX); her son, Scott Hiler and wife Amy of Bridgeport, TX; 11 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren, as well as loving friends and extended family.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the COADC Patricia & Edward Hiler Endowed Scholarship in the Department of Biological and Agricultural Engineering (Texas A&M Foundation, College Station, 77843).

A memorial service will be held 2:30pm on Sunday, July 11th at Saint Andrew Presbyterian Church in Denton.
