IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Patricia Marion
Reed
January 3, 1940 – July 5, 2025
Patricia Marion Reed, 85, of Denton, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loved ones, on July 5, 2025, after a long illness.
She was born in Highland Park, Michigan, on January 3, 1940, to Frank Joseph Gutzi and Mary Elizabeth Kalousdian. Patricia graduated from Cooley High School in Detroit, Michigan, in 1958. On July 8, 1961, she married her beloved husband of 63 years, Fred Marsh Reed, at the Armenian Congregational Church in Detroit. Their journey as parents began in Detroit and continued through Clarkston and Ortonville, Michigan—each place holding treasured memories. They settled in Denton, Texas, in 1985, where they would spend the next several decades building a life filled with family.
Both Patricia and Fred learned early in life the value of hard work and made sure to instill that same dedication in their three daughters. Patricia worked diligently throughout her life to help support her family. She retired from Lake Forest Good Samaritan Village in 2001 after 15 years of dedicated service as Director of Housekeeping and Laundry Services.
Patricia's proudest role in life was that of being a mother and grandmother. She poured her heart into raising her children, offering constant encouragement, guidance, and unconditional love. She celebrated every small victory and comforted every heartache. Her legacy is one of compassion, quiet sacrifice, and unwavering love.
She is survived by her loving husband; their three daughters: Pamella Reed and wife, Kay, of Denton; Jennifer Bird of Highland Village; and Melanie Mueller and husband, Wayne, of Dallas; and by her six grandchildren, who were her greatest joys: Danielle Carrillo and husband, Kevin, of Flower Mound; Natalie Bird of Austin; Jillian Bird of Highland Village; Noah Mueller of Lubbock; and Joseph and Jacob Mueller of Dallas. She is also survived by her brother, Richard Guzzi of Pennsylvania, and her sister, Mary Gutzi of New York. Her legacy continues through her great-grandchildren, Theodore Carrillo and Delilah Bird.
While we mourn her absence here on earth, we rejoice in knowing she is now free and whole in the presence of her Savior.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 9, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. in the East Room of DeBerry Funeral Directors. A private family graveside service at Roselawn Cemetery will follow.
