Paula Louise Chapman, 73, of Denton passed away peacefully on December 23, 2020 in Carrollton, Texas. Born on November 2, 1947 in Duncan, Oklahoma, she was the daughter of LV Akins and Bervena (Taff) Woodson.

Paula graduated from Denton High School in 1969. She married the love of her life, Sonny, in 1983 and they celebrated 37 years together this past June. She spent most of her adult life researching her family genealogy. She loved going to family reunions and meeting new family.

She is survived by her husband, Crawford "Sonny" Chapman II, of Denton; two daughters, Regina (Tony) Weir of Gainesville, Texas, and Cathy (Dalton) Whitfield of Denton, Texas; thirteen grandchildren, TJ (Lori) Weir, Artie Weir, Damien (Meghann) Whitfield, Angel Wolf, Marie (Joe) Stanley, Mathew Fowler, Katie (Hunter) Parker, Kenny (Jaclyn) Weir, Andrew Yount, Elizabeth (Charlie) Whittington, Stephanie Yount, Keshia (Nathan) Heltsley, and Brandon Whitfield; thirty six great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; three brothers, Tom (Peggy) Akins, Robert (Suzanne) Akins, and Tim (Angel) Akins; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Leon Akins and John Cecil Akins.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 9, 2021 at DeBerry Funeral Directors in Denton, Texas from 1-2 PM. Funeral services will follow in the Chapel of DeBerry Funeral Directors at 2:00 PM with Wiley Sullivan officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Denton.
