Peggy Elaine Epps's Obituary

Peggy Elaine Baxter Epps, 89, of Gainesville, Texas passed away Friday, July 3, 2020 in her home after a long history of congestive heart failure and recent diagnosis of dementia. She was born in the Little Elm area on September 18, 1930 to Wilson W. Baxter and Hassie Irene West Baxter.

Peggy grew up in a close-knit family and was a self-proclaimed daddy's girl. She talked fondly about growing up on the lake and learning to tend her family's garden. She continued fostering her life-long passion for gardening, taking pleasure in the smallest of blooms. She was an avid reader, excellent cook, and committed puzzle solver. Family was the cornerstone of her life and she leaves behind a powerful legacy that will remember her for generations to come.

Peggy was a devout member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and reveled in her faith. She firmly believed in God's plan and placed her life in His hands. Her unyielding love and devotion to His son Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit supported her in her daily struggle and ultimately gave her peace.

In her final days, she lived with her granddaughter, Allyson Batte, her grandson-in-law, Zachary Batte, and her great-grandson, Easton Wayne Batte. Easton Wayne quickly became the light of her life, providing her comfort and distraction from her physical ailments. She enjoyed long phone conversations with her grandson, Ryan Parker, and her granddaughter-in-law, Tamara Parker, speaking extensively about their Colorado adventures. She also treasured her friendship with Jan and Bill Stone, thoroughly enjoying their weekly In-and-Out Burger runs.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilson and Hassie Baxter, all four of her siblings, Billy Baxter, Delbert Baxter, Mary Jo Loveday, and James Baxter, her sons Alan Wayne Parker and Ronald Brent Parker, and her beloved husband, Milton Win Epps.

Peggy is survived by her daughter Wauniece Dewberry of DeQueen, AR , six grandchildren, Cheryl, Christa, Bobby, Ryan, Brooke, and Allyson, and several great-grandchildren.

Peggy's final wish was to have a small graveside services for close family and friends. The service was held on Monday, July 6 th at 2:00 p.m. at the Old Alton Cemetery in Denton, Texas. She was laid to rest surrounded by those that loved her.
