Peggy Morrison-Pitts, 57, of Denton, Texas passed away on Friday April 14, 2017 in Denton, Texas surrounded by family. She was born on November 2, 1959 in Dallas, Texas to Robert and Jane (Morgan) Morrison. She married the love of her life, Don Pitts, in Denton, Texas.
Peggy attended high school at Denton High and continued her education at UNT in Radio, Television and Film. She utilized her degree at Full Gospel Family Worship Center where she produced Hope for Troubled Times for 15 years.
Peggy's passion was drums. She began playing as a child and launched her professional drumming career at the age of 15. She continued drumming throughout her life, despite a battle with crippling Rheumatoid arthritis. She kept beat for the bands Strictly Dixie, Endless Nights, Vintage Jazz Society, and Young at Heart. She loved playing at Jazz Fest every year and never turned down a gig. She played her final show only five weeks ago on March 10 th .
She devoted her life to her family and to mentoring many others, young and old. She was known for her positive outlook and uncompromising determination. Peggy truly marched to the beat of her own drum, and in doing so, inspired and transformed others. She touched the lives of countless people, both directly and indirectly.
Peggy is survived by her husband of 35 years, Don Pitts, mother, Jane Stapler, Uncle, Ray Morgan, father in Law, JD Pitts and wife Jayne, four daughters, Jesica Jabr and husband Khalil, Tiffany Grisham, Jennifer Desautels and husband Matt, Christina Beck and husband Jesse, one son, Matthew Pitts, brother, Robert F. Morrison and wife Abby Erca, sister, Carol Williams, sister-in-law, Beth Pitts, brother-in-laws, Ronald Pitts and wife Rebecca, Jason Pitts, Patrick Pitts and wife Renee, nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A public Celebration of Peggy's life will be held on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at 11:00 am at Full Gospel Family Worship Center located at 209 Mockingbird Lane, Denton, TX 76209.
