IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Penny Lynn
Rice
August 27, 1962 – January 4, 2022
Penny Lynn Rice, 59, of Denton passed away on January 4, 2022 in Denton, TX after complications from a prolonged illness. She was born at Flow Hospital to Joe Kennemer and Greta Dean Lawson.
The youngest of four sisters growing up she was always looked at as the baby of the family. At the early age of 16 she married her sweet heart Kenneth Clay Rice and left her cradle behind. At the young age of 21 she had her pride and joy, Joshua. She enjoyed going on family vacations with her son, daughter-n-law, and grandchildren to all different fun places from Galveston to Branson and even San Antonio. She had a deep love for Elvis and was an avid collector of anything she could find by the "King of Rock 'N' Roll". She was so excited when her son and family took her on her dream trip to Graceland in Tennessee. She loved going to bingo and Winstar whenever she had a chance, even if it was only spending the night in a free hotel room to get away because she had no money to gamble. Her whole world was her grandchildren, every moment she had to show them off she would. As a super Nana, she did everything she could for her babies and was ecstatic when little Hanna came along after three boys. They all loved each other "To the moon and back". Although she is no longer present with us on this earth, she waits patiently for the day we are all together again in heaven.
She is survived by her mother, Greta Schirmer, and father, Joe Kennemer, son, Joshua Clay Rice and his wife, Jennifer of Krum, TX., sisters, Nancy Marie Kennemer Hall of Valley View, TX, Deania Jo Kennemer Redfern and husband Wayne of Garland, TX, stepsister, Jana Watkins and husband Jim of Crossroads, TX, and stepbrothers, Mark Thomas Beaird and Charles Murl Beaird, grandchildren, Preston Scott Rice (16), Keegan Clay Rice (13), Tristan Alexander Rice (10) and Hanna Catherine Rice (4) all from Krum, TX, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her beloved sister, Patsy Ann Owens and step-mother, Shirley Kennemer.
The immediate family will receive friends and relatives on Tuesday, January 11, 2022 from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM at DeBerry Funeral Directors in Denton, Texas. A Graveside service will be held following visitation at Spring Creek Cemetery in Valley View, Texas.
