Obituary

Philip John Anton, beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family in Denton, Texas, on Friday, October 27, 2023. Phil was born on August 2, 1955, in Dallas, Texas, to John and Selma Anton. In his early years, he attended St. Pius Catholic Church and later, Jesuit College Preparatory High School of Dallas. He graduated from the University of North Texas in Denton in 1978 with a B.A. in Radio, TV & Film. Phil married Karen (Kerry) Marie Houlihan, the love of his life, on November 24, 1978, sharing three children and almost 45 years of marriage.

Phil had a successful business career. He was a founder of two companies - Anton & Associates, Inc., in 1982, providing exclusive sales representation for companies that manufacture factory automation equipment, and CodeSource, LLC., in 2005, a leading-edge identification and asset tracking solutions company. Although he travelled extensively, he always found time for his family and friends.

After living in Dallas and Arlington during the early years of their marriage, Phil and Kerry bought property in Aubrey, TX, and built their dream home in 1995. Phil fully embraced living in the country, enjoying most weekends outside on his riding lawnmower and Kubota tractor. He was often seen alongside his father-in-law and neighbor Robert Houlihan, tackling any outdoor project that needed attention. Phil will forever be remembered for his love of family and wonderful sense of humor. He was a great cook, a grill master, and the ultimate host. Many a night was spent around the dinner table with his large family telling classic stories and jokes.

Phil had a remarkable ability to effortlessly connect with people. His magnetic personality, irresistible charm, and quick-witted humor made him instant friends with everyone he met. He was loved by many and will truly be missed by all.

Phil is preceded in death by his father, John Anton. He is survived by his mother Selma Anton, wife Kerry Anton, daughters Kate and Meghan Anton, son Matthew Anton and his wife Claudia, granddaughter Jacqueline Anton, granddogs Bruno and Lola, and a much-loved extended family.

Phil had expressed his desire for a departure from the traditional funeral. Instead, he envisioned a joyful celebration of his life, and his family is committed to honoring his wishes. The event will be in the Spring of 2024. Details will be provided soon.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested contributions be made to the American Cancer Society.
