Phillip Rodney Box, 59, of Denton passed peacefully at his home on Sunday, March 23, 2014.

Phillip was born on March 24, 1954 in Plainview, Texas where he grew up and attended public schools.   He later moved to Odessa, Texas and worked for CSI, Inc. for over 10 years.  He met his wife, Velinda Rene Long, while living in Odessa, and they were married on September 5, 1987.  The couple relocated to Denton, Texas where Phillip worked at Banctec, Inc. for 24 years in inventory control.   Phillip loved music and could often be found playing guitar and singing songs in the front yard of his home.

Phillip is survived by his wife, Velinda Box of Denton, Texas; his mother, Ruby Margaret Shaffer of Roanoke, Texas; and his brother, Vernie Michael Janes of Loveland, Colorado.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 27, 2014 at DeBerry Funeral Directors in Denton, Texas from 6-8pm.

Funeral services will be held in the Chapel of DeBerry Funeral Directors on Friday, March 28, 2014 at 2:00 pm with Pastor C.M. Mosley of First Baptist Church of Haltom City officiating.

An interment will be held at Oakwood Cemetery in Comanche, Texas on Saturday, March 29, 2014 at 2:00 pm.
