Rachel Annabell Blackwell Briggs, 78, of Denton, passed away on Monday, October 7, 2013. She was born on July 8, 1935 in Denton to James (Jimbo) Hollis Blackwell and Thelma Jane Bell Blackwell. She was married to Oliver Briggs. She was a Girl Scout and Boy Scout Den Mother, a PTO Officer, and volunteered in her community and at church.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 9, 2013 from 6-8 pm at DeBerry Funeral Directors. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 10, 2013 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of DeBerry Funeral Directors. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.

Anna is survived by her husband, Oliver; daughters, Vickie Beckham and Brenda Hunter; son, Chuck Briggs; sisters, Kate Bridges and Polly Jackson; 5 grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Dale; and son, Tommy Dale Briggs.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society; to the Oak Grove Cemetery Association; or to Friends of the Family.
