Rachel Louise
Wells
September 9, 1988 – September 27, 2018
Rachel Wells, 30, of Denton passed away at her home on September 27, 2018 with her family by her side. Rachel was born September 9th, 1988 to Gail and Jim Wells, the second of four children. She had fiery red hair and a personality to match.
She was home schooled all the way through kindergarten to graduation. Her college academic performance earned her the title of honor student, with a double major in French and Equine Science.
A dancer and a martial artist, she could kick your butt and look graceful doing it. She performed for many years with A Time To Dance Studios, focusing mostly on jazz and hip hop. She began training in judo at the Denton Optimist Club at the age of nine. She quickly had all the boys afraid to fight her for fear of an impending loss to a small girl.
Rachel was an artist almost since she could first hold a pencil. She could be found happily employed for hours on end working on portraits, paintings, bead work, and anything in-between that involved beautiful colors and creativity.
She had a deep love for animals, a passion which lead her to purchase a puppy without her parents' permission while they were out of town, hoping to persuade them after the fact to let the dog stay. Ten years later, the dog still lives at her parents' house, fat, happy, and well loved.
Her passion for horses, however, was unmatched. She found an outlet for this passion as part of the equestrian team for western pleasure at North Central Texas College, where she quickly became a vital competitor, bringing home numerous blue ribbons. She never felt more like herself than when she was working with horses, and a few months before her passing, she fulfilled her lifelong dream and purchased a horse of her own; she named him Bobby.
Coming to a saving knowledge of Christ early in her life, she carried her faith with her unashamedly. It led her to France and Mexico as a missionary, the former of which, where she lived for several months. She was bold in sharing her faith anywhere she went, including on a first date... true story.
Quick witted and comical, she loved to be a clown, saying or doing anything to make people laugh. She delighted in the ridiculous and found humor in the absurd. She loved her family and friends with her whole being and was well loved and surrounded by both up to the moment she went home to meet her Savior face to face.
The family will receive friends on Friday, September 28, 2018 at DeBerry Funeral Directors in Denton, Texas from 6-8 PM. Funeral services will be held at Denton Bible Church on Saturday, September 29, 2018 at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at Cooper Creek Cemetery in Denton.
Anyone wishing to donate to a charity or some other worthwhile organization in Rachel's name, please pick one of your choosing, perhaps keeping in mind Rachel's passions and pursuits – especially for Christian mission work and for horses – while she was with us. You could mention that sort of gift in a comment in the online guestbook, if you would like.
