Ramona Louise Davis Bynum, 84, of Denton, Texas passed away peacefully at home on Friday, November 26, 2021. She was born at home in Atlanta, Georgia on February 20, 1937, to Everett Allen and Louise (Manus) Davis.
Ramona studied political science and journalism at Eastern New Mexico University in Portales, NM. Ramona worked at a local newspaper where she met her future husband George.
Ramona and George married in Tatum, NM on April 12, 1958. After moving frequently as part of a seismograph crew in many Western states, they settled in Irving, Texas where they raised their children, Scott, Meredith, and Elizabeth. Ramona volunteered at Irving Community Hospital and worked in a dress shop prior to her retirement. Ramona enjoyed socializing with friends and family, decorating her beautiful home and garden, and reading mystery novels and watching television shows--especially those set in England.
Ramona is preceded in death by her husband, George R. Bynum, and her parents, Everett and Louise Davis, and her sister Barbara Arrington. She is survived by her sister Nancy Pleasants and her husband Ric Pleasants of Apopka, FL; her children, son Scott Bynum and his wife, Lilia Chávez Bynum of Denton, Texas, daughters Meredith Bynum and her husband Warren Peltz of Asti, Italy, and Elizabeth Bynum Hass and her husband Kenneth Hass of Eugene, OR; grandchildren Tristan Bynum and Katherine Bynum Chávez, Mallory Strout and Carson Strout, and Alexandra Hass; and great-grandchildren Emma Louise and Olivia Faye Bynum, and Adrian Antonio Freeman.
There will be a private family service at Newburg Cemetery near Comanche, Texas, where she will be interred.
