Randall "Poppy" Kopeny, 72, of Denton, passed away Wednesday, April 29, 2015 in Denton. He was born December 26, 1942 in Chicago, IL to Clarence and Alvina Kopeny. He served bravely in the Merchant Marines during the Viet Nam War. He married Nancy Polley on May 22, 1987 in Denton. He worked for American Eagle and was Secretary of the Viet Nam Veterans of American, Chapter 920. He touched countless lives with his warm smile and will never be forgotten.
Visitation will be Saturday, May 2, 2015 from 2:00 – 4:00 P.M. at DeBerry Funeral Directors. A memorial service will be held Sunday, May 3, 2015 at 3:00 P.M. in the chapel of DeBerry Funeral Directors with Chaplain Tom Silva officiating.
Randall is survived by his wife, Nancy of Denton; daughters, Kellie Szachury of Pepper Pike, OH and Ronda and husband, Colby Meyer of Tuscola, TX; son, Brian and wife Cynthia Kopeny of Cincinnati, OH and grandchildren, Chase Meyer, Kenzie Szachury, Landin Meyer, Jillian Szachury and Logan Szachury. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, James Kopeny.
