Randy "Dusty" Trussell, 59, cherished husband, brother, dad, Pa, uncle, cousin, and friend, was called home to his Savior Monday, June 1, 2015 while playing beach volleyball on vacation in Cozumel, Mexico. He was with his wife, sister in law and brother in law, and went peacefully playing a sport that he loved.
Dusty married his wife, the former Cynthia Ann Gibbs, on March 1, 1974, they had just celebrated their 41st wedding anniversary, which is one of the things they were celebrating on this vacation, and he is now waiting on her to join him on the ultimate vacation in an even better paradise than Cozumel.
Dusty was a 1974 graduate of Northwest High School, where he played football, basketball, baseball and ran track. He worked at Victor Equipment Company in Denton, Texas from 1974 until this past fall.
He was heavily involved in all the activities of his children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and enjoyed attending all of their events. He coached both grandkids' Upward basketball teams at First Baptist Church Justin for many years. He loved to volunteer his time and served the Lord in various ministries.
He lived a full life, and enjoyed traveling, sports, singing, and spending time with his large extended family. He always had a smile on his face, and enjoyed his time on earth, loving and being loved by many.
He was preceded in death by his dad and mom, Joe and Oleta Trussell; a sister, Connie Worthington Belkap; and an infant brother, Phillip Trussell.
He is survived by his loving wife, Cindy; daughter Misti Skidmore and husband Larry of Justin; son Brad Trussell and wife Shelly of Ponder; sister Twilia Lambert and husband Dave of Jacksonville, Florida; grandchildren Nathaniel and Isabella Skidmore; sister-in-law Lisa Cate and husband Brent of Justin; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and many friends.
The family will celebrate his life at First Baptist Church Justin, Justin Texas, on Saturday, June 6. Visitation will be at 1:30, followed immediately by the service at 3 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in his name to First Baptist Church of Justin Upward program.
