Obituary

Ray H. Twehous, 95, of Denton passed away on April 2, 2024 at Medical City Hospital in Denton after a brief illness. He was born on October 4, 1928 in Pilger, NE to John and Rose Twehous.

Ray graduated from the University of Nebraska and was drafted into the US Army where he served in the Korean War. After his service, he married the love of his life—Mary Lou Schendt—on June 19, 1954 in Grand Island, NE. They went on to raise 5 children together: Dale Twehous, Jeanne Twehous, Debra Twehous, Diane Takats, and Marcie Ochsner.

Ray worked in the agricultural business for most of his life; this brought him and his family to Denton in 1975 where he lived until his passing.

Ray was a devout Catholic and a fourth-degree Knight of Columbus; he was instrumental in the building of both the new Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in north Denton and the Knights of Columbus Hall, also in north Denton.
