Rebecca Jean Gentle Cardwell went home to be with her Lord and Savior on March 30, 2026 with Linda at her side.
Becky was born September 4, 1941, the second daughter of Clarence (C.L.) Gentle and Annie Louise Ewan. Gerald and Becky were married on November 10, 1961 in Cindy Nichols Chapel at First Baptist Church Denton by the Reverend L.L. Armstrong.
Becky was a 1960 graduate of Denton High School. Becky’s first “real job” was the first legal secretary to then present District Attorney Robert Caldwell, who referred to her as “Miss Becky”. Becky retired in 2006 from Denton County where she served as a District Clerk.
Becky was preceded in death by her parents Clarence (C.L.) Gentle and Annie Louise Ewan, her sister Barbara Ann Hampton and her husband Gerald Wayne Cardwell, Sr.
Becky is survived by 3 sons: Chris and wife Kim of Euless, TX, Gerry and wife Gailee of Murphy, TX, Greg and wife Kim Marie of Arlington, TX; Five grandchildren: Rebecca and husband Chris, Brelyn, Griffin, Garrett, and Dalton; great grandchild Hudson; nephew John Hampton and wife Teresa, nieces Sara Tischler and husband Martin, and Linda Webb and husband Lindon. She is also survived by her very best friend Donna Small.
The family will receive friends on Monday, April 6, 2026 at 1:00 PM in the Chapel at DeBerry Funeral Directors in Denton, Texas. Funeral Services will follow in the Chapel at 2:00 PM. Internment will be at I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Denton, Texas.
