Rebecca Brown Slack Stanly of Denton, TX, passed away on December 10, 2015 at the age of 88. Born Feb. 20, 1927, in Lake Charles, Louisiana, to Torbert Slack and Rebecca Austin Brown, she graduated from Louisiana State University. In 1948 she began a devoted marriage of 61 years to Thomas Jackson Stanly of Leesville, LA. As exemplary parents, they raised their family in Thibodaux, LA and Nacogdoches, TX where they were 40-year members of Westminster Presbyterian Church. Jack Stanly passed away in August 2009, and Becky moved to Denton where she joined St. Andrew Presbyterian Church.

Becky was an accomplished professional watercolor artist and family historian with long-standing memberships in Nacogdoches Art League, Daughters of the Republic of Texas-Stone Fort Chapter, and Galveston Historical Foundation, among others.

Becky's legacy includes four daughters and their families: Rebecca King and Sarah McKinney of Denton; Elizabeth Driggers of Reston, VA; Ruth Salvaggio of Columbia, MD. She has nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to thank the community of Dogwood Estates and staff of Unlimited Care of Denton for their care of Becky during her final years. Special appreciation goes to Ms. Hayley May who blessed Becky with her gift of devoted care this last year.
