Obituary

'Red' William Andy Heizelman, 89 of Sanger, TX, passed away on Tuesday, February 14, 2023 at home. He was born in Lincoln County, Oklahoma on September 19, 1933 to Albert Andy Heizelman and Nellie Agnes (Vickers) Heizelman. He was the only son with four sisters: Maxine Burke, Marie Anderson, Rose Nugent, and Pearl Mayall.

Growing up, Red went to school on and off while helping his dad on the farm. His very strong work ethic started there in his childhood. He's done everything from driving 18 wheelers, to operating heavy equipment, to machining. He's taught so many people over the years the proper way to accomplish a task. Though he didn't have any children of his own, he met some wonderful people at his last job at Tri-County Materials in Sanger, TX. He met Russ and Carrie Williams who provided a home on the property. He would tell everyone he was the 'watch dog'. He also met Cayce at Tri-County Materials. He always thought it was funny that he took her front-end loader from her. Even though he put her on a lesser loader, he still made sure to teach her how to operate it and load the screener or load trucks efficiently. There have been several other hands that have passed through there that had learned a lot from Red. His lack of education through school did not stop him from being a good teacher.

Red loved being on the tractor. He would spend hours on end plowing the fields of Tri County and getting ready for the sunflowers. He loves going to tractor shows and has hundreds of pictures of them. The 4th of July has been his favorite holiday since he was young. His nieces and nephews have stories that he would always show up with a truck load of fireworks and those are some of the best memories they have with him.

Red didn't pass away in his own home but did pass in his 'family's' home. His final days were spent in the home of a woman he met when he was working at Tri-County Materials. She adopted him into her family. His 'adopted' grandchildren Cobie, Kayleigh, Kharysma, Claire, and Caroline will be sure to carry on the fond memories they have of Papa Red.

He is survived by his sister Rose, seven nieces, two nephews, and multiple great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Maxine, sister Marie, sister Pearl, three nieces, and one nephew.

A graveside service will be held at Bolivar Cemetery on Friday, February 17, 2023, at 3:00 PM. Red is available for viewing at the DeBerry Funeral Home.

Pallbearers: Scott, Terry, Mario, and Cody
