Rhonda La Rue Gore-Scott was born on October 23, 1958, in Woodbridge, Virginia, to Gene and Wanda Gore. She went home peacefully on Monday morning at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Denton, Texas, with her devoted husband by her side.

Rhonda attended Woodbridge High School, where she proudly performed as a majorette with the Viking Marching Band. From an early age, she developed a love for dance and excelled in her training. An extraordinary dancer with both talent and enthusiasm, she once kicked so high during a dance class that she accidentally hit herself in the face, a story that became a favorite family memory.

Rhonda had a vibrant personality and a genuine love for life. She enjoyed spending time with friends, socializing, and dancing. The disco era of the 1970s and early 1980s was especially meaningful to her, allowing her to combine her passion for dance with an active social life throughout the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area.

Her love of performance led her to become both a Washington Redskins Cheerleader (Redskinette) and a cheerleader for the Washington Bullets, now known as the Washington Wizards.

Adventure and travel were also central to Rhonda's life. She moved from Virginia to San Francisco, California, and later to Los Angeles, where she earned her real estate license. While in Southern California, she became a partner in the well-known country western venue, The Cowboy Palace Saloon in Chatsworth. The Cowboy Palace Saloon remains famous for its live entertainment and performances by nationally recognized musicians. Its authentic western atmosphere also attracted the film industry, leading to appearances in movies and country music videos.

In 1993, Rhonda met the love of her life, Russell Scott, while attending the Los Angeles International Culinary Institute. Cooking, hospitality, and bringing people together were among her many passions. Rhonda and Russell were married in 1995 and shared 31 wonderful years together.

Although they did not have children, they built a rich and fulfilling life together. Over the years they made their home in California, New York, Colorado, Florida, and Texas. Together they traveled extensively throughout the United States and around the world for both business and pleasure, often attending culinary competitions, international wine events, and hospitality industry gatherings.

As an adult, Rhonda developed a deep and unwavering faith in God. Her commitment to her faith influenced many lives, including several family members and her husband. Her dedication to spiritual growth led her to pursue a second degree in Biblical Studies at the prestigious Kenneth Copeland Bible College in Texas, where she graduated in 2023.

Because her family and loved ones are spread across the country, Rhonda requested that there not be a traditional funeral service. Instead, she felt that the most meaningful way to celebrate her life would be through a video tribute sharing her experiences, adventures, faith, and memories. That tribute is currently being created and will be available for family and friends to enjoy and remember her life.

After learning of Rhonda's passing, one of her earliest and closest friends, Lynn Huntington Cloutier, shared these heartfelt words:

“I recently heard a priest speak about death. He said he believes that when you pass away and open your eyes on the other side, the first thing you see is the face of God, and God says, ‘Welcome home.’ Rhonda's faith was very strong, and my friend, I hope that was your experience.”

Rhonda will be remembered for her joyful spirit, her love of dancing and travel, her generosity, her faith, and the many lives she touched throughout her journey. She departed this life peacefully, surrounded by love, with her husband at her side.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Russell Scott III; her brothers, Henry Gore Jr. and Ronald Gore; and her sister, Brenda (Gore) Nichols.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Wanda Gore and Henry Gore Sr.; her sister, Kim (Gore) Peters; and her brother, Troy Gore.
