Richard Earl Clegg, 67, of Denton, Texas, passed away peacefully on July 20, 2025 surrounded by the people he loved most. Born in Sweetwater, Texas, on September 19, 1957, Richard was the beloved son of Leo and Betty Clegg, both of whom preceded him in death.

Richard dedicated 51 years of his life to Jostens, where he became the heartbeat of the Denton plant. He wasn't just a coworker—he was the one who kept the place running. His work ethic was unmatched, but it was his kindness, patience, and compassion that truly defined him.

He is survived by his daughter, Erin Rae Clegg, whom he adored, and his former spouse, Valeree Clegg. He also leaves behind his nephews, Scott Clegg and Bill Clegg, who were dear to him.

Richard had a deep love for helping others and fixing anything that needed fixing—cars, appliances, hearts. He never met a stranger and could strike up a conversation with anyone. A devoted concert-goer and lifelong music lover, his favorite artist was John Prine. Richard believed in the good in people and had an uncanny ability to find it, even when others couldn't. He carried a generous spirit, a hard-working soul, and a heart as big as Texas.

A memorial service will be held at DeBerry Funeral Home in Denton, Texas, on August 2, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. All who knew and loved Richard are welcome to attend. He will be laid to rest beside his parents at Cottonwood Flats Cemetery in Scurry County, Texas.

As John Prine once sang,
"When I get to heaven, I'm gonna shake God's hand, thank Him for more blessings than one man can stand..."

Richard Clegg was one of those blessings.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Richard's memory to a local blood bank of your choice or simply take a moment to lend a hand to someone in need—just as he would have done.
