Obituary

Marvie "Rie" Ford, passed away on Friday, July 18, 2014, at the age of 95, surrounded by her family. She was born on January 11, 1919, in Eastland, TX to George William and Geneva (Venable) Dawson. She was the youngest of 11 children and grew up on a farm east of Tulia, TX. She graduated from North Texas State College, known today as UNT, on May 30, 1941. She married W.R. "Red" Ford on May 30, 1942 in Rio Grande Valley. She was an active member of Singing Oaks Church of Christ in Denton, TX. Rie spent her retirement volunteering for many organizations which she was very passionate about including Singing Oaks Church of Christ, R.S.V.P., Ann Havens Hospice, and delivered Meals on Wheels for 12 years. She was a 50 year member and past worthy Matron of Eastern Star. Rie's vibrant attitude towards life and her spunky personality will be deeply missed by those that loved her.

Rie is survived by her two sons, Scott Ford of Denton, Alex Ford and wife Rilda of Westlake; 3 grandchildren, Thomas Ford and wife Elise, Jason Ford and wife Carly, Ashley Slivocka and husband Kris; and 5 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, her parents, and her 10 siblings.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of DeBerry Funeral Directors with Pastor Ross Thomson officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
