Obituary
Rita Beth Whatley Channas, 82, formerly of McAllen TX and now of Nocona passed away Thursday, July 12, 2012. She was born November 19, 1929 in Pearl, TX to Joseph Lee Whatley and Amanda Johnson Whatley. She married John Channas on June 28, 1958. He preceded her in death. She was an oil and gas attorney and practiced for more than thirty years in the Rio Grande Valley.
She graduated from Denton High School in 1946, attended TSCW, now TWU, University of Texas, John Carroll University and Cleveland State University.
She is survived by sisters, Ann Whatley Martin and Mildred Whatley Nunneley; brother, Trent Whatley; 9 nieces and nephews on the Channas side of the family and 13 nieces and nephews on the Whatley side of the family.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
