Robert E. "Bob" Shipley 81 of Sanger passed away Saturday, October 20, 2018 at  Muenster Memorial Hospital in Muenster, Texas.  He was born on November 30, 1936 in Pilot Point to Galen Alexander and Willie Mae Sanders Shipley.

He served in the US Army and retired from the State of South Carolina in the IT Department.

He had such a love for life and lived it to the fullest. He was a great historian and traveled around the globe many times. His passion for flowers and serene places made Hawaii, Holland and Switzerland his favorites, visiting them many times over. Humble beginnings and a thirst for knowledge taught him how to cook, paint, sew, needle point, crochet and even make furniture. He enjoyed fine art and classical music which led him to taking art courses and learning to play the piano.

Bob obtained his bachelors' in Science at the age of 57 at Limestone College in Columbia, South Carolina where he lived for 47 years.

At the age of 77, he returned home to Texas and lived with his niece Kim, her husband Mike and their two boys Dane and Max.

He was a blessing to all who knew him and will be greatly missed.

The family will receive friends from 2-3:00 p.m. at DeBerry Funeral Directors this Wednesday October 24 ^th with services scheduled to begin at 3:00 p.m. in the DeBerry Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Sam Redfearn officiating.  Bob will be laid to rest with his family at the Bloomfield Cemetery in Cooke County.

Bob is survived by, a brother Byron Shipley, nieces Karla Watland and Kim Gobble, nephew Jeff Shipley, 6 great nieces and nephews, 4 great great nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Galen and Willie Mae and  brother Billy Tom Shipley.
