IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Robert Leroy
Brown
September 11, 1946 – April 29, 2022
Robert Leroy Brown, 75, of Sanger passed away on April 29, 2022, surrounded by his family in Denton, Tx. He was born in New Castle, Pennsylvania on September 11, 1946, to George and Martha Brown. He married the love of his life, Doreen Brown, and raised her 3 children as his own. Robert was an honorable man who served his country and family wholeheartedly.
Robert "Bob" was a proud Vietnam Veteran who wouldn't be found in public without his baseball cap claiming the title. He served in the Army for nearly 11 years and fought in a war that he described as "hell on earth" which led to health issues that he struggled with for the remainder of his life. He rarely spoke about his experiences on the battlefield, but he held his service in high regard. While serving in the Army, Bob and his family moved throughout the United States until they moved to Texas and settled there.
After serving in the Army, Bob dabbled in a variety of professions, but one of the family's favorites was when he was a chef at a steakhouse because the chicken fried steak recipe is beyond comparison with any other. The family loved when he would cook dinner, which was always paired with the best sweet tea, loved by all of his grandchildren. Bob was a family man who enjoyed watching classic movies, westerns, and musicals. His favorite thing to watch was NFL football; you would not find him missing out on watching an NFL football game, especially when his team (Pittsburgh Steelers) was playing!
Bob and Doreen were an example of strength and love to their children. They enjoyed traveling in their RV and exploring new, unknown places. He never met a stranger, loved to joke around and aggravate those closest to him. Bob liked to teach others about any subject he knew about, whether it be anything from drawing to cooking. As he grew older and his health began to get more complicated, he most enjoyed spending time at home with his wife and their dogs.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Doreen Brown, of Sanger; his three children: Donald Noetzold, Cherie Hyatt and husband Ronald of Denton, and David Noetzold and wife Sofia of Mansfield; and sister Jean Chappell of Pennsylvania; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, sisters, Sharon Hendricks and Carol Van Steinburg, and brother, Larry Brown.
