Robert Michael Cherenko passed away at his home in Denton, Texas on Friday, November 10, 2023. He was born in Dayton, Ohio to Michael and Olive Cherenko on July 31, 1940. Robert served in the U.S. Navy,  was an officer with the Washington D.C.  Metropolitan Police Department, served in the United States Secret Service, and later had a long career in the U.S. Marshals Service, retiring in 1995 as and Inspector with the Witness Security Division. Robert is preceded in death by his parents and  and daughter Candace (Candy) Thornal.

A graveside service will be held on November 24, 2023 at the DFW National Cemetery in Dallas, Texas.

Robert is survived by his wife Lori Carter, daughter Lucinda (Cindy) Moore and husband Dave, grandchildren Maddison and Brody, son-in-law Wes Thornal, grandson Trace Thornal and wife Skyllar, great grandson Stellan, and granddaughter Peyton Thornal, sister Sharon Carter and husband Hal and sister Toni Sturm and husband Tom.
